Assassin’s Creed Director’s Cut Edition

The online multiplayer for assassin's creed brotherhood is one of the best multiplayer games I've played in a long time. Before playing the multiplayer I was curious to how it would work. Ubisoft have put a lot of thought into the multiplayer and offer game types such as Wanted, Alliance and Manhunt. Wanted This game type is a free-for-all kind of game, where the player finds themselves with a target and a pursuer at the same time. I personally think this game type is quite tricky as you have to stay stealthy to get the most points for an incognito kill but have to be alert and ready to escape from your pursuer. Alliance If you were to enter an Alliance game I would recommend you do so with a friend or someone you know that has a headset because communication is key. Alliance consists of three teams of two, each team being a hunter and being pursued. Before the game starts it will let you know who is your pursuer and who is you target. Manhunt A manhunt game lasts 10 minutes, it's separated into two halves. The first half your team will either be the hunters or the hunted, if you're on the hunted team your objective is to stay hidden and survive whilst if you're on the hunter's side your objective is to kill. In the second half of the game the roles switch over. In my opinion this is the best game type as it's easy to lever up because you can gain a lot of experience from having 3-4 to kill. On January 18thassassin's creed saw their second free DLC hit the market place. The downloadable content contains a new map and a new game type, the game type being 'Chest Capture'. Chest Capture The newest game type is quite an interesting game, here you will find yourself in a game with two teams of three or four players defending or capturing the chest. The protector's compass leads them to the hunters but not the chests. The hunters compasses lead them to all three of the chests. To capture a chest the hunter must stand within a circle that's around the chest, the more hunters within the circle the faster they capture the chest. When a protector is around the chest their compass de-synchronises therefore you'll be forced to use you observation skill to work out who are the hunters and who are the AI. Story mode As far as the story mode goes for this game I think it's truly awesome! I've personally only completed the first Assassin's Creed, I gave the second one a chance but I become easily annoyed as I tried to chase Ezio's brother I kept auto sitting on a bench and continued to lose the race so therefore gave up on that one. I've yet to finish the story mode but so far so good! I'm not quite sure what's going on in the game as I've missed a huge chapter by not completing the second game but I will update this once I've completed it. To conclude, I believe this game is generally amazing and I would recommend to anyone that enjoyed the other Assassins creed as this is by far the best one. I'd also recommend it to someone looking for a game with a different approach to online gaming. The only negative thing I've got to say about this game is the network difficulties, although Ubisoft have improved it, it still takes a while to find a game at times. Other than that this game is a must, my overall rating is 9/10.

The graphics are just OUT OF THIS WORLD! You will need a very good PC to enjoy their full potential (minimum requirements provided below), but real skies, dynamic shadows, facial expressions and realistically flowing robes are only beginning to describe it! Run on a roof and the other citizens will gather around and comment on your crazy behavior! Throw someone on a vendor's cart and he will come after you complaining about his ruined produce! And the city is alive well beyond your character. If only BIOWARE could take some lessons for its next BALDUR's GATE... Adding to this is the wonderful sound! From the crowd murmurs and the NTCs cries for help, to the whistling of the wind and the well-chosen background music, a good sound-card and speakers set is recommended to truly enjoy this game. If you have a 5.1 speaker system (I do not) I can imagine the experience to become even more immersing. As to the gameplay, you control Altaïr ibn La-Ahad ("The Flying One, Son of None"). He is a member of the Assassin Brotherhood that sides, well, with both...sides, during the 3rd Crusade. In a story twist, he is also your ancestor, the game being your/his flashback memories. This is a twist I could do without, but I would guess it lays groundwork for the sequels. The Third person perspective works beautifully and will never loose your interest. Most missions require sneaking and murdering in the shadows. Others will have you eavesdropping for passwords or pickpocketing documents to gain access into target buildings. Some will have you sharpen those sword skills. Still, the game does not avoid its share of stupid "keep this...suicidal character from getting killed" missions. Keep in mind though that ASSASSIN's CREED is rather a strategically thinking action TPS, not a hack&slash fast-paced one. Controlling your character with a keyboard/mouse takes a lot of getting used to as you have to manage running, climbing, fighting as well as modifying your actions from low to high visibility. The keys are remapable but their complexity will never let you forget you are playing a game. Now for some bad news. These are the official MINIMUM Requirements: As one can see, this is worse than CRYSIS! What I cannot get is how on earth ASSASSIN works on only 512MB of RAM of the XBox, yet it is recommended to have...3GB of RAM on a PC! Sure, the extra content is nice but who did the porting, unpaid interns? Has ANY PC optimization been attempted at all? UBISOFT has been recently hit with a $5million class-action suit for hardware (OK, "allegedly") damaged by StarForce bundled with its games. Since, they have announced to be abandoning its StarForce partnership - so let's all rejoice: unlike other UBISOFT games, ASSASSIN's CREED does NOT sport StarForce! Instead, a much milder SafeDisc is used. So, overall, this is a well made and beautiful, immersing (although quite short) game that needed more work in PC optimization (where it looses 1 star Overall) and character control (where it looses 1 star for Fun). As Altair himself would have put it: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." |
