Stars are for the Practice Room and Test Room (drills)

I don't really know about the usefulness of the "Classroom" aspect of the program, the part that actually tries to teach a person how to do speed math. I checked out the first lesson for Addition, and I think if you want to learn speed math, you'd be better off buying a book like Rapid Math Tricks & Tips: 30 Days to Number Power, which covers the skill with much more depth.

That being said, I purchased this program for the Practice Room and Test Room features, which help challenge your mind in a useful way. These modules work with columns of multiple numbers, which I think is good for exercising short term memory and focusing attention.

In addition to multiple levels of difficulty, the modules allow you to change the number of problems you want to attempt, up to 99. The Test Room is timed, but the very nice thing about it is you can set the number of seconds allowed for each problem, up to 1 minute (actually 59 seconds) if you want. At the end of the drill, you are presented with your performance stats and a grade.

The interface is clean, with a minimum of cuteness, so an adult can use it without feeling embarassed, though I wished they would have used a larger point size for the drill numbers.

You can find similar drills on the Web, but they are usually aimed at kids,don't have as many options, plus you have be online. For my purposes, this was worth $10 as a download.
